Continuing the tradition since 1978, the troop will offer a Big Bend Adventure during Spring Break of 2016. This is an educational, fun-filled experience geared to introduce new scouts and new dads to the elements of High Adventure as defined by Troop 285. The trip includes visiting Lake Amistad, the Judge Roy Bean Visitor Center in Langtry, hiking the South Rim Trail (13 miles) in Big Bend National Park, visiting the Barton Warnock Center in Lajitas, visiting historic Fort Leaton, lodging at the historic Prude Ranch in Fort Davis, participating in a “Star Party” at the McDonald Observatory on Mount Locke, visiting historic Fort Davis, and climbing Guadalupe Peak.
The dates : March 12 – 17, 2016
We have five rooms reserved in the Basin, which means our group can be a maximum of 20. We currently have 8 scouts and 6 dads signed up.
